Trevor and Shooting Club Member and electronics ‘Guru’ Robert Bruce have been working on a new action timing system for each of the six lanes on the shooting range.

We have been keeping Robert busy over the last month away from his ‘Popular Feedback Friday’ spot on our Facebook page with the joint development of a knock down timing system designed around Speed Rifle and Pistol Shooting. If you are a member or have visited the Shooting Range recently you will know all about the 10 Knock down targets that exist on each Shooting lane. Primarily developed to encourage target accuracy and scope adjustment over a 32 yard distance, Trev has decided to add the ‘Speed’ element to the Knock Downs.

How do they work ?

Located on the control panel of your Shooting lane is the Timer Unit shown above. It has 3 adjustable settings for sections of the knock down targets.

1. Applies to Knock Downs 1-5 and Reverse

2. Applies to Knock Downs 6-10 and Reverse

3. Applies to Knock Downs 1-10 and Reverse

After turning the unit on, the LED display will light up showing 0000. Depending on the position of the settings for example lets say you have selected 1-10, take aim and knock down target 1, the timer starts, then when you have knocked down all 10 targets the timer will stop and your time will be displayed on the timer unit.

Trevor designed the additional 2 settings for different variants, for example 1-5 can be used for Pistol and the more challenging knock downs of 5-10 can be practised for Holdover under pressure !!

We will be displaying times on our Website leader board throughout the year with the fastest recorded time winning the coveted title of  ‘Smart Arse’ I mean ‘Top Gun’ !! ha ha
